Who would have ever thought we’d be facing a global pandemic this spring? It’s been an unsettling time for all of us as public worship was cancelled for the last part of March and all of April. Businesses are closed, hours are cut, jobs are furloughed, the stock market crashed, and the news has not been able to talk about anything else for many weeks now.
But in addition to all of that, something else happened: we all slowed down a little bit. I’ve had so many people tell me how much they are missing church right now. Students are missing school. And we are all missing each other.
One joy of mine during this time is how many people have asked what they can do to help other people. Thank God for Godly people who want to help each other! We have to tell them that no, we don’t know of anyone in immediate need. It seems that everyone has some support system already in place to call them, get them groceries, or help them see the church services.
If you DO know of anyone in need of help, please let me know. Someone suggested that we could have volunteers call those who are lonely. This would be great! If you would like to volunteer for this, or know someone who needs help, shoot us an email or give us a call.
In the mean time, it’s Easter! Christ is Risen! There is nothing, not even Covid-19 that can defeat our Lord of Life. You have nothing to fear. We are in God’s hands, and that is a good place to be.
