What we believe about the Sacrament

• We believe that in the Lord’s Supper, Jesus gives us not only bread and wine but His true body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith (Matthew 26:26-28).
• We believe that receiving communion together is a confession that those who commune at the same table share the same doctrine (Acts 2:42, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17).
• We believe it would be dishonest to share communion before we can honestly say we believe and teach the same things. It also disrespects the beliefs of our visitors to ask them to make a contradictory confession by communing at our table.

Can I receive communion?

Though sometimes seen as being exclusive, we believe it actually shows great love and respect to our visitors to not receive communion together until we share the same beliefs.

If this is also your confession of faith, please speak to the pastor before the service begins about receiving communion.

Even if you are not receiving communion with us this week, we are so glad you are with us in worship to hear God's Word!

What should I do if I’m not receiving communion?

• Visitors who do not share our full confession of faith may still come forward to the rail to receive a blessing from the pastor. We ask that you indicate that you are receiving a blessing by crossing your arms.
• You may also simply remain in the pew during communion distribution. Use this time to worship God by singing the hymns or prayer. We do not judge or make assumptions about those who remain seated and do not come forward for communion. In fact, not all of our members receive communion every week.
