Midweek Catechesis Classes
The goal at Zion is for students to be ready to have their faith publicly confirmed and become communicant members of Zion and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod by the end of the 7th grade if they have completed the requirements and have demonstrated the expected level of understanding. To help them be prepared for this, along with the Sunday morning classes we offer Midweek classes on Wednesdays during the school year from 6:00-7:30pm for all grades.

About Midweek & Catechesis
Faith Foundations is offered for all grades and is very beneficial in helping your child become familiar with the Lutheran Catechism that they will study in more depth during the two years of pastor-led catechesis.
Regular participation in Faith Foundations and learning the memory work is also beneficial to learning the Lutheran faith and thus preparing for a public confirmation of that faith. You can even practice the Learn by Heart memory work quizzes that are used in class, although for learning/memorizing purposes, it is better to write out the whole words or study from the full text.
Two years of pastor-led instruction on Wednesdays along with the Sunday class are required parts of youth catechesis at Zion. Further information along with expectations and requirements will be given prior to the beginning of classes each fall. Please contact us if you would like to learn how to enroll your child.
Toward the end of the second year of instruction we ask that those wishing to be confirmed complete an Application for Confirmation and return it to the church office so that certificates can be prepared. Please print the form so that your child may sign their name and express their own desire to be confirmed in the Lutheran faith and become a communicant member of Zion.
